The VITeff, the history
A quick look back at how we came by our name … Why VITeff?

- T for “techniques”
- Eff for “effervescence”
VITeff is well and truly the Sparkling Wine Technology Exhibition par excellence, whether you’re thinking about Champagne, Crémant, or other sparkling wines of worldwide renown.
A few key dates:
1950 The first edition of VITeff is held, under the name “Salon des
Techniques Champenoises”. It is retitled “VITeff” in 1991.
2001 The Reims-Epernay Chamber of Commerce and Industry takes over
management of VITeff;
2003 VITeff enjoys fresh impetus thanks to support from territorial communities with regard to financing, with subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Rural Affairs and Territorial Development, the Champagne-Ardenne Regional Council, the Marne General Council and the Épernay Pays-de-Champagne Community of Communes, as well as at human level with the involvement of a variety of teams;
2005 For the first time, VITeff is held at the Epernay Millésimum, which it
inaugurates!;
2007 VITeff is recognised as the outstanding unmissable international event for the sparkling wine sector, with the support of dedicated partners;
2009: 375 exhibitors, 23,000 visitors, 93% of visitors leave satisfied… South
Africa is the guest of honour, and Epernay becomes a centre for encounters
between top names in the sector from throughout the world...
The next edition will take place from 16 to 19 october in 2013 in Epernay.
