Organised by the IFV - French Institute of Vine and Wine in partnership with the CIVC - Inter-Professional Committee on Champagne Wine, ADEPTA (Association for the Development of International Exchanges of Agricultural and Agri-Food Products and Techniques).
This international workshop is aimed at all the vine-growing advisers and professionals who wish to make sustainable development part of their approach. Phyto-sanitary protection, soil management, and enhancing landscapes and bio-diversity will be developed by French and international experts in conjunction with environmental management tools.
Additionally, presenters of pioneering approaches taken by cellars and regions will shed light on the feedback from their experience (California, South Africa, Brazil, etc.). Denis de FROIDMONT form the European Commission will speak on the aims of the Common Agricultural Policy put forward for the future beyond 2013.

Introduction
- Jean-Mary TARLANT (Chairman, IFV Champagne): Presentation of the IFV’s sustainable-development cluster
- Denis DE FROIDMONT (European Commission, Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development, Wine and Spirits, Tobacco, Seeds, and Hops Unit): the place of sustainable vine-growing in European legislation.
First part: Concepts and implementation
- Joël ROCHARD (IFV, National Sustainable-Development Cluster): Concepts of sustainable Vine- and Wine-Growing from the International Organisation of Vine and Wine: application to bio-diversity.
- Thierry COULON (IFV, Scientific Director, Wine Region): New systems of vine-growing production in response to the Eco-Phyto Plan.
- Xavier DELPUECH (IFV, Rhône-Mediterranean Cluster): Sustainable soil management
- Carine HERBIN (IFV, National Sustainable-Development Cluster): The contribution of the landscape to sustainable development
- Sébastien KERNER (IFV, National Sustainable-Development Cluster): Analysis of the Life Cycle and the Outlook for Environmental Labelling
